CARING FOR YOUR CHILD

Providing your child with the ultimate care and safety is our number one priority at camp. Facilities and policies have been constructed to provide a thorough and consistently safe program. During Orientation and Staff Training, all staff are trained in safety rules and expectations for all aspects of camp life. Safety regulations are posted and practiced by all campers and staff.

Our camp voluntarily adheres to over 400 separate standards dealing with all aspects of a camp’s operation: health & safety, leadership, food service and maintenance, staffing, programming, and administration.

We feel a keen sense of responsibility for the health and safety of your child and as such we employ the following health procedures during camp. Our medical staff confers with counselors on the daily health habits of the children in their bunk house, and they also advise the administration regarding all health and safety matters.

Our infirmary operates as a primary care clinic for the camp. Your child’s health record is maintained there and should they need medical assistance we are well equipped to help them. Our medical staff consists of one full-time physician and one full-time nurse. Our Doctors rotate on a weekly basis.  The infirmary is fully stocked with medical supplies to aid with everything from minor abrasions to more serious conditions. We also carry a defibrillator on site.

If our medical staff feels a camper needs treatment that we cannot provide, we have excellent medical facilities just 18 minutes away in Monticello. We also have a local dentist available if necessary.

From Far Rockaway, NY, Yaffa is in her 4th summer as the Head Nurse at Camp Mogen Avraham. SENDING MEDICATION TO CAMP

We are committed to ensuring your child is provided with the ultimate care.   Please do not send medication up to camp with your child.

We have selected J Drug Pharmacy to supply prepackaged medications for our campers. All prescription medications, over the counter medications, vitamins, and supplements that are taken on a daily basis must be ordered through J Drugs. This company packages all pills individually in a dose packet for each day of camp. If you send medication to camp with your child (instead of ordering through J Drug Pharmacy),that medication cannot be used, and you will be charged a packaging and rush fee by J Drugs as well as an additional $50 fee for shipping and handling.  The J Drugs form can be found by logging into your Campminder account and going to forms & documents.

Do NOT send any over the counter medication with your child. OTC medication (including Advil, Claritin, Melatonin, etc.), which is not allowed in the bunks, will not be returned at the end of the summer, as per Board of Health regulations.
